Dotson Iron Castings Recognized as Manufacturing Leadership Awards 2018 Winner
Mankato, Minn. – The Manufacturing Leadership Council recently announced that Dotson Iron Castings has been recognized as a Manufacturing Leadership Awards winner for outstanding achievement in Collaborative Innovation for its disaster recovery project.
The award recognizes Dotson Iron Castings efforts in recovering from a significant fire that took place in September 2017. As a result of the fire, three molding lines were lost, along with the conveyor sand delivery system and all electrical, computer, pneumatic, and water lines in the molding and pouring area. Every piece of equipment in the plant had to be serviced due to the soot and residue.
Dotson’s leadership team initiated a comprehensive three-part plan focusing on employees, customers and rebuilding the foundry. The leadership team and support individuals met twice daily on all aspects of recovery. The Dotson philosophy going into this effort was to make sure that every opportunity was taken to improve the operations as the rebuilding took place.
Dotson’s commitment to its employees and the community during the recovery process was especially notable. While continuing to pay employees, Dotson Iron Castings offered their services to various community organizations in the Greater Mankato area while it worked to restore production facilities. While recovery efforts continue, in just over four weeks after the fire, with the help of countless people, Dotson was back pouring iron.
Dotson Iron Castings will be recognized at the 14th Annual Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala, which is to be held on the last day of the Manufacturing Leadership Summit, June 11-13, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa in Huntington Beach, CA.
